Based on the OASIS 4 Phase 3 trial, conducted alongside a lifestyle intervention. Results represent estimated outcomes assuming 100% adherence in a clinical trial population. Individual results will vary. As with all weight loss treatments, individual results varied.

Check eligibilityHow do weight loss tablets work compared to injections?
Same ingredients, different method
Both work through the same clinical pathway, reducing appetite and slowing digestion. The difference is how they’re delivered and how you take them.
*Individual results may vary.*

No needles, no injection sites
The injectable treatments are self-administered once a week into the abdomen, thigh or upper arm. The Wegovy Pill is swallowed once daily. No pen to load, no needle, no rotating injection sites.

No fridge. No weekly schedule.
The Wegovy Pill is stored at room temperature and taken daily. No refrigeration needed, easier to travel with and easier to fit around your life.
How do weight loss tablets actually work?
Mimics GLP-1
It imitates the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) hormone, which is what your body normally releases after eating, to stop food cravings.

Slows digestion
It slows down how quickly your stomach empties, keeping you feeling full and satisfied for much longer after smaller meals.

Regulates Blood Sugar
It stimulates insulin secretion when blood sugar is high, which helps stabilise energy levels and further reduces cravings.

Frequently asked questions
- GLP-1 medications mimic a hormone your body releases after eating, one that tells your brain you're full, steadies blood sugar and slows digestion. Once injection-only, they're now available as a daily tablet, like the Wegovy Pill. They work with your biology, helping you feel satisfied with less.
- Both contain semaglutide and work the same way. The injection is once weekly with no timing rules. The pill is daily, first thing on an empty stomach, with a 30-minute wait before eating or drinking. Results are broadly comparable at standard doses.¹ Read the full comparison
- In the OASIS 4 trial, people taking the 25mg pill daily lost around 16.6% of their body weight over 64 weeks, broadly on a par with the standard injection.² It works best alongside changes to how you eat and move, with support from your Clinician and Health Coach. That's what the CheqUp Method is built around.
- Switching is possible but needs clinical oversight. Your pill dose depends on your current injection dose and the timing needs careful handling. If you're a CheqUp member, speak to your Clinician through My Account and they'll guide you through it. If you're new to CheqUp, feel free to call our Clinicians for guidance on 0161 570 0287.
- One tablet first thing every morning with up to 120ml of plain water. Don't break, crush or chew it. Wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else or taking other oral medication. You'll start on a low dose, building gradually to 25mg over around 12 weeks. Read the full guide
- The Wegovy Pill activates the same receptors as your body's natural fullness hormone, reducing appetite and helping you feel satisfied with smaller portions. Unlike older tablets that blocked fat absorption, it addresses the signals that drive hunger in the first place. Read more
- The most common are gastrointestinal: nausea, indigestion, constipation, diarrhoea or stomach discomfort. They're most likely in the early weeks and after dose increases, and tend to ease as your body adjusts. If they're making things difficult, your Clinician can help. You don't have to manage this alone.
- The pill may suit you if you'd rather not inject and have a consistent morning routine. The injection may be the better fit if you've used semaglutide before, want the highest dose or have a history of cardiovascular disease. Complete a short medical questionnaire and your Clinician will help you choose.
