For Helen, reaching her target weight felt like reclaiming her life. After years of frustration and countless attempts to lose weight, she had almost given up hope that anything would work. Today, seven months after starting her CheqUp programme, she has lost two and a half stone, around 21% of her body weight, and reached her goal weight.
Like many women, as Helen got older, the menopause added a layer of challenge, slowing her metabolism and making it harder to manage her weight, even with the same healthy habits she had always followed. Helen tried every approach imaginable, including diets, exercise programmes, cutting out alcohol and running, but nothing made a lasting difference. Then came a series of life challenges that made things even harder.
During the Covid lockdowns, Helen’s husband became bedridden for a year before sadly passing away. Whilst he was ill, she could not leave him for more than 40 minutes at a time, which made it impossible to exercise or find time for herself. Not long after, she ruptured her ACL and tore her meniscus, which left her recovering from surgery for over a year. As her mobility decreased, the weight crept up.
“One morning I hit the scales at 12 stone and thought, enough is enough,” she said. “I had to do something.”
Taking the first step
A friend’s success story with weight loss medication gave Helen the motivation she needed to start her own journey. Seeing how effective it had been for someone else made her believe that change was possible. After researching CheqUp’s programme and the clinical support available, she decided to begin treatment and quickly settled into the routine. “The hardest part, and even that was not really hard, was getting used to the injection,” she explained. “Within a couple of weeks I didn’t even think about it.”
She experienced no side effects apart from a reduced appetite, something she welcomed as a sign the treatment was working.
With Mounjaro, Evie found that she could listen to her body’s signals, eating when hungry and stopping when satisfied.
In seven months I have lost 21% of my body weight and feel like myself again. CheqUp and Mounjaro have given me confidence, energy and a love for life.

Results beyond the scales
While the weight loss has been transformative, Helen says the biggest change is how she feels about herself. “I have got my confidence back about my body. I am back in love with it, and I feel it deserves better,” she said. She has also rediscovered the joy of wearing clothes she loves and feeling comfortable in her skin again.
One unexpected benefit has been deeply personal and life changing. Helen had struggled with stress incontinence for years, which had forced her to give up running. Since starting treatment, that issue has completely disappeared. “Even sudden hard steps used to cause a leak, but that has gone. I do not need to use Tena pads anymore,” she shared.
Looking ahead
Now, Helen is preparing to start running again, something she once thought she would never do. With renewed energy, confidence and a sense of control, she feels ready for the next chapter of her life.
Her advice for anyone thinking about starting their own journey is simple: “Give it a go, you have nothing to lose.”
