A new version of the Mounjaro KwikPen is being introduced in the UK. This update comes from the manufacturer and includes small design improvements to make the pen clearer and easier to use. While the change is subtle, you may notice some differences in how the pen looks, particularly after your final dose.
What’s been updated
The KwikPen has been refined with a few visual and structural changes. These include:
- An updated internal plunger design
- A clearer indication when the pen has reached the end of its use
- Less excess liquid remaining after the fourth dose
Together, these changes are designed to make it easier to see when all doses have been delivered and the pen is ready to be discarded.
What stays the same
While the design has been updated, the way the pen works remains unchanged. Each KwikPen still provides:
- Four fixed weekly doses
- Enough medication for priming before each injection
- The same prescribed treatment, delivered in the same way
There is no difference in how the treatment works or how effective it is.
When is this change happening
The updated pens are being introduced from April 2026 as part of a gradual rollout. This means:
- There is no single switch-over date
- Both the original and updated pens will be available for a period of time
- You may receive either version when your prescription is filled
This will continue until existing stock of the original pen has been used.
What this means for you
There is no change to:
- Your prescribed dose
- Your weekly treatment schedule
- How you use your KwikPen
You should continue using your pen exactly as instructed.
A simple design improvement
This update is about making the pen easier to interpret at the end of use. If your pen looks slightly different or has less liquid remaining at the end, this is expected with the updated version.
The redesigned plunger position and reduced excess liquid help clearly show when all four doses have been delivered.
Whether you receive the original or updated pen, your treatment remains consistent.
